In October 2008, CBRE opened a full service office in Chongqing, a municipality in southwestern China. The office in Chongqing represents the sixteenth full service office operated by CBRE in Greater China and further enhances the service capabilities of CBRE in response to demand from domestic and international developers, investors and occupiers.
Located upon the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Chongqing serves as a key city in relation to the implementation of China's 'Go West' Policy, reflecting the strategic importance of Chongqing as part of the development of Western China. Chongqing is also one of four municipal cities in China, with a total population of over 30 million. With an ambitious plan to strengthen its role as a hub in the southwest, particularly under the pilot twin reform cities policy announced by the Central Government in 2007, Chongqing has been growing at a rapid rate over the past decade. This has resulted in significant growth in real estate market activity as well as an increasing demand for high quality real estate services.
