Dalian is a beautiful, clean city, which is located on the southern tip of Liaodong peninsular in northeast China, with the Yellow Sea on the east, Bohai Sea on the west, facing the Shandong peninsular across the sea on the south and backed up by the vast Northeast Plain on the north. Dalian is the marine gateway of northeast China, North China, East China and the whole world. It is an important port, and a trade, industry and tourism city, and also a center of finance, commerce, transportation, tourism, information and logistics in North Asia. Dalian has been called the window for Northeast China and "Pearl of the North".
With four distinct seasons and a pleasant climate, Dalian is favored with an excellent environment. Dalian is the first city in China to receive the "Global 500" award for human habitation and excellent living environment by United Nations Environment Program.
Dalian is one of the five cities in China to attract the largest amount of foreign investment, the best investment environment and the most dynamic seaport city of Northern China. The Government of Dalian has implemented various initiatives as part of an overall objective to establish the city as the international shipping centre of North East Asia, and as a result there has been strong growth in the petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, computer and software development industries as well as in the port facilities within the city. Dalian will become a modern international city.
