| Shenyang is the capital city of Liaoning Province, and is located within the southern part of Northeast China. It has a total land area of 13,308 square kilometres with 11 districts, 1 city and 3 counties.
Shenyang has a long history, and is an excellent city for tourism. There are many scenic spots in Shenyang, including Fu Tomb, Zhao Tomb and Xinle Site Museum. Shenyang Imperial Palace is the only imperial building which exists besides the Forbidden City in Beijing, and has great historical and artistic value. Shenyang is also an important centre of heavy industry with the equipment manufacturing industry in the city dating back to to the time at which the People's Republic of China was established. Within recent years, Shenyang has developed very quickly. With an improvement in living standards and social development, the city has entered a new era for growth. Shenyang has been awarded the titles of " Exemplary City of National Environmental Protection " and " National Forest City ". It is one of the top ten cities in China in terms of economic growth, and is amongst the top ten most competitive cities in China.
In accordance with the "Revitalize Northeast China" campaign, the Shenyang Municipal Government plans to build Shenyang into a national centre for equipment manufacturing, and a regional centre for trade, logistics and finance in Northeast China. The development of Shenyang has become a catalyst in relation to the development of Liaoning as well as Northeast China as a whole. It is anticipated that Shenyang will be one of the most attractive regions for investment due to its advantageous location, solid industrial strength, improved market system and advanced transportation network. |
