CBRE and RICS Sign a Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Shanghai

July 15, 2015, Beijing - Recently, CBRE and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) signed a cooperation agreement that formally established their strategic partnership. As the world leading commercial real estate services and investment firm, promoting and cultivating talent has always been a core mission of CBRE. The partnership with the RICS sees CBRE strive further toward the mission.

The signing ceremony sets to be held on July.15th in Shanghai. The strategic cooperation between the two sides includes provision of support from the RICS to the employees of CBRE, helping provide customers with higher levels of service, professional competence, professional coverage of facilities management, project management, commercial property management and consulting.

As China’s urbanization continues to accelerate, the rapid, large-scale development of Chinese cities is dependent on outstanding talent. According to Zhang Zai, a philosopher of Song Dynasty, “When talent emerges, the country will prosper.” Talent has always been a core aspect in the development of the real estate industry. Excellent real estate industry professionals not only enhance the competitiveness of the industry, but more importantly, they can satisfy the constantly evolving needs and changing demands of their customers. At the same time, according to the “2014 Summer Chinese Employer Demands and White-Collar Talent Supply Report,” out of the top ten national industries with the most vigorous demand for talent, the real estate industry topped the list. The demand for professionals in the real estate industry far exceeds the number provided by the education system. As a result, real estate companies need to improve talent incubators.

As a real estate service company with almost 30 years of experience in China, CBRE has witnessed the transformation of the real estate industry while consistently providing employees with a better platform for career development and offering exceptional customer service. The talent incubator system has won CBRE recognition within the industry.

Ivan Poon, President, China at CBRE, said, “The cooperation between RICS and CBRE is of significant importance. As the world’s leading commercial real estate services and investment firm, CBRE is committed to delivering the broadest, deepest reach and resources. For our shareholders, we deliver financial advantage by producing results that create long-term value. Besides, for the best and brightest global talent, we offer professional advantage, providing the industry’s best platform and a place to build a long-term career. It is therefore we collaborate with RICS, the world’s leading professional qualification organization in land, property and construction, making efforts together to establish a strong pool of talent with industry knowledge and professionalism.”

The vision of RICS is to be recognized in key international markets as the leading body that develops and enforces professional standards, and offers access to the most sought after professional status.  To the members, there is a growing expectation that RICS will provide global learning interventions to assist them into the profession and to deliver life-long learning opportunities throughout their career. To the employers, increasingly from around the world, RICS is expected to provide a platform for their staffs in up skilling and cross skilling to enable them deliver quality professional services based on globally recognized standards. Therefore, the professional learning hub is born to meet the demand for talents from developers, consulting firms and investors, etc.

With learning being a mandate of RICS and China being one of RICS’ priority markets, the establishment of a learning hub is a logical consequence. The hub, located in Shanghai will be -a significant part of the existing RICS global academy.  It is supported by a dedicated team of specialists, will support firms and individuals in the built environment with learning solutions delivered in the form of open (public), in-house, face to face, online and blended delivery methods. The learning hub, part of the RICS Global Academy, will benefit from the already existing international offers of over 300 courses in different formats with a wide spectrum of skills and knowledge needed in the built environment across all levels. They range from foundation level courses that build working knowledge of a particular topic, to the more advance courses which cover complex scenarios, and through to the Executive Education Program.

Pierpaolo Franco, Global Director of Training Product, RICS, added, “We are delighted to have signed two important agreements and have the opportunity to work with CBRE in supporting their learning and development needs in China, which is a priority market for RICS. Our learning programs are grounded in best practice international standards tailored to meet local market needs which will help CBRE lead the way in developing and retaining its key talent while enhancing productivity, business performance, client servicing capacity and long-term market growth. Thanks to the strategic partnership agreement, the RICS Learning Hub has the opportunity to offer our learning solutions to CBRE and its clients.  It is RICS’ aim to contribute to the built environment by supplying globally relevant knowledge and equip professionals with the necessary competence. ”
