CBRE announces City Tavern, a popular downtown bar, restaurant and live music venue, is relocating its Main Street restaurant to Mid Elm Lofts, a new historic redevelopment with retail and restaurant space. Recognized locally as the “Best Downtown Hangout,” City Tavern is moving to 1512 Elm Street from its original 1402 Main Street location, where it has been since 2004.

“City Tavern has been an important part of the Downtown Dallas community for the past 12 years,” said owner Joshua Florence. “We’re excited to have a long-term lease that will ensure we’ll be a part of this community for many years to come.”

City Tavern has made a name for itself as a live music venue and as the local gathering spot for those who live or work downtown. They offer lunch and dinner seven days a week and are known for their local beer selections and drink specials. The new location is approximately 1,817 square feet and is slated to open June 1, 2018.

Mr. Florence also owns Deep Ellum’s Club Dada, Independent Bar & Kitchen, Off the Record (with a second location in Fort Worth), as well as HomeGrown Festivals, LLC, which produces HomeGrown Fest and Old 97s County Fair.

“Westdale is excited to partner with such a successful businessman like Josh Florence,” said Chuck Hixson, Vice President, Westdale Asset Management. “This new collaboration for City Tavern at Mid Elm Lofts will be a great addition to the redevelopment happening on Elm Street.”

“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to lease an historically significant project like Mid Elm Lofts, and it’s especially sweet to bring the iconic urban favorite City Tavern to the project,” said Jack Gosnell, Senior Vice President with CBRE in Dallas.

Mr. Gosnell, Amy MacLaren and Elizabeth Herman with CBRE in Dallas represented the landlord, Westdale, and Steve Shepherd with Worth Ross & Associates represented City Tavern in lease negotiations.
