Sidley Austin LLP Expands Houston Office
28 6月 2018
Sidley Austin LLP, a global law firm with a substantial presence in the key commercial, financial and regulatory centers of the world, has deepened its footprint in Houston through the expansion of its office in Wells Fargo Plaza. The firm has signed a long-term lease renewal and expansion at 1000 Louisiana Street.
“We’ve doubled our size in Houston over the last several years by adding exceptionally talented associates and partners who were very sought-after in this market,” said Kevin Lewis, co-managing partner of Sidley’s Houston office. “That created a good problem: we ran out of office space. This expansion adds approximately 30,000 additional square feet to accommodate our exceptional growth, and we are planning a redesigned office that will be stunning.”
Sidley currently occupies approximately 50,000 square feet but, given its rapid expansion, needed additional space to house its growing team of lawyers and staff. The firm will have a total of approximately 80,000 square feet with this expansion. The expansion includes the 59th floor ‘sky lobby’ featuring double-height ceilings, which gives Sidley a new and dramatic entry to its office.
“Our office has grown dramatically, and this expansion is a direct result of our terrific roster of clients and their increasing needs,” said Cliff Vrielink, co-managing partner of Sidley’s Houston office and member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “Marrying the incredible knowledge and skill of a global law firm like Sidley with our highly experienced Houston lawyers who are well-known in this market has been a great recipe for growth.”
Kevin Kushner, senior vice president with CBRE and a member of the company’s Law Firm Practice Group, represented Sidley in the transaction with Todd Lippman and James Whalen from CBRE’s Chicago office.
“Sidley seeks to continue building on its success in Houston, and this transaction was an illustration of that,” Kushner said. “The firm aims to use real estate as a tool to serve its clients and provide the best possible environment for its attorneys to thrive. We worked closely with the Sidley team to ensure the firm met its goals and is well positioned to accommodate continued growth.”
